Don’t Copy The Sleeping Habits of These Rich & Famous People!

Although it’s NOT something I would recommend, it’s interesting to note the crazy sleep habits of some of the rich and famous!

Keep in mind that the everyday person probably can’t follow these habits and still be very healthy and balanced.

I mean, the recommended dosage of nightly shut-eye by the National Sleep Foundation is 8 hours… 

Let’s see just how wacky some of their habits are.

  • Nikola Tesla

    The engineer who practically invented everything from radar to radio to X-rays to Alternating Current (AC) electrical system. 

    Tesla practiced such an unusual sleep schedule that he had a mental breakdown by the age of 25! So, don’t copy him. 

    He only slept from 12 am to 2 am – that’s only 2 hours each night! 

  • Leonardo Da Vinci

    One of the greatest painters of all time, Da Vinci is known worldwide for his famous paintings like Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. What we don’t often talk about is that he’s also an Italian Renaissance man of science and logic. 

    According to this infographic, Leonardo followed a polyphasic sleep pattern, where he slept for 20 minutes every 4 hours. This is also called the Uberman Sleep Cycle.  

    Let’s do the math. 24H /4H = 6 x 20 min = 102 min / 60 min = 2 hours. Yikes! 
     
  • Wolfgang Mozart

    World-renowned musician famous for his works in the Classical era, Mozart was a child prodigy who began to compose at the age of 5! By the time he passed, he created 600 works of art that span from symphonies to operas to concertos and more. 

    His passion for music engulfed him to the point of waking up at 6 am every morning to work on his compositions until 1 am. 

    That’s only slightly better at 5H each night! 

  • Richard Branson

    Who isn’t familiar with the rebel CEO of Virgin who is featured in all the high-profile podcasts, TV Shows and magazines?!

    FUN FACT: He’s the 8th wealthiest British billionaires by net worth. That’s not surprising given that there are 400 companies under the Virgin Group. 

    He’s at only 6H of sleep time each time – that’s not too bad! 

  • Margaret Thatcher   

    Baroness Thatcher was the British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. As a powerhouse female in the political world, Thatcher was quite the controversial figure.

    She’s the first female and longest-serving PM in office, was given the nickname “The Iron Lady” and even survived a few assassinations in her day. 

    She was known for her 4H sleeping schedule while in office. 

  • Barack Obama

    Last but certainly not least, this man needs no introduction. It’s our 44th and former US President!

    More on the normal side, Obama got about 6 hours of sleep but was regularly woken up to handle crises. It’s tiring to run an entire country, you know!
